An Update on the Status of Camano Island
In February of this year (2006) a huge wind storm hit the Puget Sound area.  The winds at the height of the storm were out of the Southeast and the tides were record highs.  This storm hit the beach at the Camano house head on.  All the logs on the beach were moved.

The waves were up to the bulkheads and only the design of the bulkhead kept the water out of the yards and houses; the drain holes had to be plugged to  keep the water out.   All the logs moved.  The big stump that was the focus of our beach was jammed up agains the gate and all the logs from our house to Beach Number 1 were swept away.  After the storm the beach was just clean sand.  No logs of any kind.

Since most of the work that we did this last year was related to moving these same logs around and pushing them off, it just goes to prove .... something.

In the other direction from our house toward Beach Number 2, the waves flooded the main road and several of the houses.  The biggest tragedy  was one of the buildings on the lagoon side was a six-car garage housing an impressive antique car collection.  One of the cars was connected to a battery charger while the owners were snowbirding in Arizona.  The battery charger was shorted out by the salt water and the garage and all the cars burned.
