We now have a flat in Bristol!
We took a giant "leap of faith" and committed to a furnished flat based on the internet description.  Getting money to England since 9/11 is a pain in the ...  If we waited until we got to England and then found an apartment we could have to wait up to ten days for the money to clear.   While the flat is furnished with furniture, it does not have any linens, or dishes, etc.  We will have to shop for them when we arrive.
We are madly packing, and repacking, as we determine what is critical to take for 6 months.  Verrry interesting.
Our flat is in a new riverfront development on the Avon River in the center of the map just above the little red box that says A3029.  Bristol is about 90 miles due west of London.
Our flat is in one of a dozen buildings of the same architecture.  Our unit was taken off the website as soon as we commited, but this in another one similar to ours.
Our kitchen is similar but flipped over and different colors.
Bathrooms are bathrooms.
We have a two double bedroom, two bath unit and one of the bedrooms has the shower in the bedroom, i.e., en suite!
We leave on March 29th in the AM  to Newark, NY, then change to a flight to  Bristol, UK, arriving on March 30th at 9:30 AM.  We will cab to the agent's office, sign papers, etc., and he will get us to our place to meet the landlord.
Then, it's off to an Ikea or another shop he suggested to purchase some basics for the first day.  We'll need to find some food, too.
What an adventure this will be!  Stay tuned!
